Canadian Citizenship Certificate Applications. We offer three levels of service:
- Birth record search and (if possible) retrieval (birth registrations, birth certificates and baptism records). We have a birth record specialist based in Toronto to handle Ontario cases. Searches that do not produce a birth or baptism record lead to a report explaining what resources searched and that no record was found.
- Birth evidence report summarises proof of an individual’s Canadian birth when a single birth or baptism record doesn’t exist.
- Canadian ancestry report.
If the evidence exists, a Canadian ancestry report provides a clear line to your Canadian-born ancestor and includes the information you need to complete IRCC form CIT0001. Separate pages include images of key documents with complete citations for you to print and include with your application. Package typically costs around CAN$1,000, depending on case complexity.
DNA Research. Some companies charge as much as US$3,700 to identify a biological parent or other ancestor with no guarantee of success. Mike Sainsbury CG can do this work for less. He typically provides an initial 10-hour DNA research session and preliminary report for CAN$900.
He’ll examine a selection of your DNA matches for information that might help answer your question. He’ll report his findings to you, and if he haven’t answered your question, the report will include suggestions for further research.
The research and the written report will:
- survey and describe the research that was undertaken in the time available;
- if possible, suggest an answer to your research goal — typically a theory that the evidence supports; and
- provide suggestions for additional research to either confirm or rule out the theory and the candidate(s) I’ve identified.

Online Session. I’ll meet with you online to provide customized information, education, and advice about DNA testing and analysis so you can take the next steps. You’ll have access to a recorded version of our meeting that you can download and save. CAN$100 for a one-hour session. You can invite multiple participants.
